BEARPEN MOUNTAIN (36 minutes)

Bearpen Mountain features outdoor adventure and fun for all ages. Cross country ski, snowshoe, and fat bike through scenic Catskill Mountain trails, zoom down the longest snow tubing run in New York, glide along ice skating paths, and much more!  Whether you are new to winter sports or a seasoned veteran, you'll find a fun and energetic environment balanced to your needs.  Perfect spot to bring kids and a picnic lunch!  

HUNTER MOUNTAIN (42 minutes)

Hunter Mountain is one of the most popular ski mountains in the Catskills and was voted “Best Family Resort” by Ski Magazine. The mountain offers over 67 trails and 1100 vertical feet of skiing terrain suitable for skiers of all levels. Hunter also boasts a few fun activities such as ice-skating, snowshoeing, and guided snowmobiling tours. The ski resort also offers ski lessons, equipment rentals, and day care for kids. With charming on-site lodgings and restaurants, families can make the most of their vacation with this inclusive ski resort experience.

WINDHAM MOUNTAIN (45 minutes)

New skiers or snowboarders? Windham resort might be the best place for you as their ski programs and lessons are dedicated to getting novices on speedy paths quickly. The resort has well-groomed trails with picturesque views of the Hudson Valley. Windham also has night skiing available, giving families an extra opportunity to ski past the stunning mountain sunset. The resort hosts a variety of food and drink options, entertainment, and events.

PAKATAKAN FARMERS MARKET (@ The Round Barn)

From mid-May through November area farmers and artisans gather to share their creativity and bounty at the Pakatakan Farmers' Market. Located at the historic Round Barn on Route 30 Halcottsville (approximately 5 miles north of Arkville/Margaretville) the market runs Saturdays from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.



DELAWARE & ULSTER RAILROAD

The Delaware & Ulster Railroad is conveniently located on Route 28, the major thoroughfare running through the Catskill Mountains. The trains depart the Arkville depot which is close to a number of great places to stay, eat, drink, shop and visit.

OAKLEY’S WOOD-FIRED PIZZA & GRILL

Pizza, Wings, Salad and Sandwiches, Oakley is a cozy, laid back family spot with some great local beers on tap. In the summer, eat outside while staring up at Dry Brook Ridge and listen to live music.

THE FIERCE GRIZZLY

Elegant ambiance, gracious service, and a delectable menu in the great western Catskills. Housed in a former tin shop owned by railroad magnate Jay Gould’s father. Produce, meat, & seafood are sourced fresh daily with ingredients from local farmers.

Pancakes and Belgian waffles headline the menu at this cozy American breakfast & lunch cafe located in picturesque Phoenicia NY in the heart of the Catskills. Sweet Sue’s has been a staple in the small town of Phoenicia, New York since Suzanne Taylor first opened her doors in 1984.

West Kill is developing quite the reputation for their creative and quality beers. A must visit for beer lovers.

DRY BROOK RIDGE

Head out on this 9.0-mile point-to-point trail near Margaretville, New York. Generally considered a challenging route, it takes an average of 4 h 48 min to complete. This trail is great for backpacking, camping, and hiking, and it's unlikely you'll encounter many other people while exploring. The trail is open year-round and is beautiful to visit anytime. Dogs are welcome, but must be on a leash.
